Accounting Specialist

$60,000 to $90,000 per year depending on experience.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller the Accounting Specialist will assist the Controller with the accounting operations of the company.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares the periodic financial reports and analysis; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Preparation of monthly WIP schedules and documentation of project performance, including change orders, material, and labor variances.
• Preparation of reviews on competed jobs identifying areas of both success and improvement on a monthly basis.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with respect to capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations as required.
• Works with Controller to provide information needed by the external auditors.
• Completes annual internal control scorecard for review by Controller and CFO.
• Assists with ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Takes an active role in ERP implementations and integration of acquisitions.
• Assists with daily transactional activity for the corporate office.
• G/L research and reconciliations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software, particularly Viewpoint Spectrum

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Five years or more of related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred but not a requirement.
