Job Description:

As a BI Analyst, you'll collaborate with stakeholders to develop dashboards, do analyses and provide insights to various teams across the company. On any given day, you may be assisting our marketing team in understanding market trends, helping our finance team decipher financial data, or helping our academics team understand student performance - there will never be a dull day.

Your role will involve understanding business requirements, introducing novel viewpoints, and crafting valuable analyzes and dashboards.

Essential Functions:

Business Needs Assessment

• Stakeholder Collaboration : Partner with cross-functional teams to gather and understand business requirements, providing insights into potential analytical needs and opportunities.
• Domain Knowledge : Develop a deep understanding of business logic and data within various domains, recognizing the complexity and nuance involved.
• Exploratory Analysis : Conduct exploratory data analysis to investigate new or existing datasets, identifying potential analytical insights and opportunities for deeper investigation.

Data Preparation and Transformation

• Data Cleaning : Utilize various data tools to clean and preprocess data, ensuring it is ready for analysis and reporting.
• Data Modeling : Develop and refine data models to support new and existing business measures, ensuring they align with organizational needs.
• ETL Understanding : Comprehend and participate in the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, understanding their importance and impact on analytical work.

Reporting and Visualization

• Insightful Reporting : Create clear and compelling visualizations and reports that effectively communicate key insights and tell data-driven stories.
• Attention to Detail : Maintain a high level of accuracy by identifying discrepancies, errors, and anomalies in data, ensuring reliability of analysis.
• Innovative Dashboards : Design and develop innovative dashboards that provide actionable insights, influencing business strategy and decision-making processes.

Data Analysis and Insight Generation

• Pattern Recognition : Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, gaining a comprehensive understanding of datasets.
• Correlation Analysis : Examine relationships between different data points, identifying correlations and connections that can inform business decisions.
• Insight Interpretation : Interpret analytical results, articulating their business value and significance to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
• Advanced Analytics : Support the team in adopting advanced analytical techniques, including statistics and machine learning, to enhance the depth and breadth of insights generated.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Stay Up-to-Date: Continuously update knowledge on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data analytics and BI.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Continuously evaluate and improve analytical processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
• Professional Development : Engage in ongoing learning and development to keep skills current and relevant, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Qualification Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence or data analysis. Experience in education is a plus
• Hands-on experience with BI tools, particularly Tableau, and experience with data transformation tools like DBT is a plus.
• Familiarity with data preparation and transformation processes.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in SQL and data visualization best practices. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

Certifications (optional but advantageous):

• Tableau Desktop Specialist or other relevant Tableau certifications.
• Certifications related to data analysis or BI tools, such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate.
• Certification in data transformation tools like DBT.
