About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Program & Business Innovation Officer (CPBIO) to lead the strategic growth and organizational impact of its programming. The successful candidate will be a mission-driven leader responsible for expanding the company's reach and impact, member value, revenue generation, and partnership-building. This role involves guiding the conception, launch, and growth of program strategies across various pillars, with a focus on scientific publishing, major convenings, and learning/professional development. The CPBIO will work closely with the executive team to develop and execute a 5-year program development strategy, identify new business opportunities, and ensure the success of legacy initiatives. Essential duties include increasing net revenue, establishing success metrics, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Applicants for the CPBIO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least 10 years of leadership experience in a senior or executive role, particularly within scientific, academic, or publishing-oriented nonprofits. The role requires a strong knowledge of the scientific enterprise, scholarly publishing, and membership-based programming, as well as excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will have a strategic, analytical, and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to drive change and connect strategy with effective implementation. A commitment to open and inclusive communication, servant leadership, and a proven track record in managing and growing complex program and content portfolios are essential. The CPBIO will also be responsible for data analysis, market intelligence, and staying informed of trends in the life sciences and nonprofit innovation.
