Job Title: Outreach and Recruitment Consultant
Location: Angelina Preschool and Community (Echo Park/Downtown Los Angeles)
Hours: Estimated 20-25 hours per week (Short-term consultant role)
Compensation: Hourly or flat fee, depending on experience
Duration: 68 weeks, with immediate start upon contracting
Summary of Work: Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) is a fast-paced nonprofit organization with a long-standing history of providing social services, early childhood education, affordable housing, and community development. We are seeking a short-term Outreach and Recruitment Consultant to support full enrollment at Angelina Preschool, a full-day, year-round state-sponsored preschool located in the Echo Park/Downtown Los Angeles area.
The consultant will lead a targeted community outreach campaign to reach underserved families. This role involves strategy development, field outreach, partnership building, and the creation of culturally relevant materials to ensure that all enrollment slots are filled for the upcoming school year. The consultant will work in collaboration with preschool and LTSC staff and report on progress weekly.
Objectives:
- Increase visibility and community awareness of Angelina Preschool
- Engage families who may face barriers to accessing high-quality early childhood education
- Ensure all available enrollment slots are filled for the upcoming school year
Scope of Work:
The consultant will be responsible for the following:
Outreach Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with Enrollment and Outreach Specialist to review current practices, and develop and execute a targeted outreach and recruitment plan for a 68 week engagement
- Identify high-impact outreach opportunities in collaboration with LTSC and school staff
- Align messaging and materials with Angelina Preschools values and community voice
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Build or strengthen partnerships with local community organizations, clinics, libraries, housing sites, churches, and service providers
- Coordinate and/or attend outreach events, and community tabling
- Act as a connector between Angelina Preschool and trusted messengers in the community
Culturally Relevant Materials & Messaging
- Create multilingual flyers, social media posts, and other outreach tools (in languages such as Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, Japanese, etc.)
- Ensure messaging resonates with families who have been historically excluded or underserved
Referral Tracking & Reporting
- Set up a simple system for tracking outreach contacts, referrals, and enrollment interest
- Provide weekly updates and a final report summarizing outreach metrics, learnings, and recommendations
Deliverables:
- Written outreach/recruitment plan with timeline and milestones
- Partner outreach log and calendar of community activities
- Culturally relevant outreach collateral (digital and/or print)
- Weekly summary reports
- Final summary report with recommendations for sustaining outreach impact
Timeframe:
Contract begins upon execution and continues through June 30, 2025, with an anticipated workload of 20-25 hours per week depending on need and availability.
Qualifications:
- Experience in community organizing, outreach, or early childhood/family engagement
- Deep knowledge of the local community and trusted grassroots networks
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to create culturally and linguistically appropriate materials
- Fluency in one or more languages in addition to English is highly desirable
- Familiarity with LTSCs mission and values is a plus
Compensation:
This is a contract position. Hourly rate or flat fee to be negotiated based on experience and scope.
