POSITION:

Dean of Kinesiology and Professional Studies

DESCRIPTION:

East Texas Baptist University invites applications for Dean of Kinesiology and Professional Studies. The Dean will provide administrative oversight and strategic leadership for the Kinesiology and Professional Studies programs and will direct a comprehensive plan designed to grow and enhance current programs and lead the process for evaluations for future programs. The position begins August 2025, or when filled.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five years' experience in an academic setting as a faculty member or the member of an administrative staff.
• Candidates should have advanced-level experience in the following areas:
• Lead as a member of the University's Administration
• Serve as a positive role model including setting an example for faculty in teaching, student involvement, university involvement, community and church involvement, and scholastic/academic activities.
• Develop and articulate a vision and associated goals for graduate and undergraduate programs
• Review and approve catalog; coordinate all graduate policies and catalog changes
• Oversee the learning environment and support for students
• Work with faculty to identify appropriate program learning outcomes
• Provide supervision to the faculty and staff in the school
• Develop and implement retention strategies, including identification of needed academic support or resources for student success
• Assist in developing and implementing strategies for recruiting and enrolling undergraduate, graduate, and transfer students, including participation New Student Orientation, and preview events
• Facilitate and submit curriculum changes for new programs, courses, and special topic courses
• Coordinate master's and doctorate curriculum proposals and changes along with deans and program directors.
• Establish and oversee a budget for Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies.
• Serve on Dean's Council
• Perform other special projects as assigned by the provost.

Employee agrees that he or she is an active member of a local Baptist church or Christian denominational church, and regularly attends church. Further, as a servant leader and role model for the students of ETBU, employee is required to participate in the life of the University via institutional meetings, Chapel services, prayer emphases, discipleship programming, committee participation, local community ministry/service, and campus activities and events. Employee provides active support of the spiritual, intellectual, and educational ideals, values, activities, and objectives of East Texas Baptist University; and conforms to Christian standards of faith and service.

EDUCATION:

ETBU seeks a qualified individual with a terminal degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Kinesiology.
