Job Description

Clinical Dietitian-PRN at Norman Regional Health System summary:

As a Clinical Dietitian-PRN, I provide initial nutrition assessments and ongoing follow-up care for patients, ensuring they receive appropriate nutrition education. I am responsible for staying current with research and continuing education, while also having the ability to make quick, rational decisions for prioritizing patient care. My role encompasses knowledge of various subspecialty areas, including nutrition support and disease-specific dietary management.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.


Experience

Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care. 

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
