Position Summary The Director of Talent Acquisition serves as a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the YMCA of Greater San Francisco's recruitment strategy. This role ensures that the Y attracts, engages, and hires exceptional talent who advance our mission and reflect our values of inclusion, equity, and belonging. This leader oversees a team of recruiters and partners with HR, Operations, Learning & Development, and program leaders across multiple Bay Area locations. The Director will modernize recruitment processes, optimize the UKG system, and strengthen employer branding while building strong community pipelines.

By implementing effective sourcing strategies, fostering collaborative partnerships, and ensuring a positive candidate experience, the Director helps create teams that promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
Job Responsibilities Talent Acquisition Strategy & Workforce Planning - Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy aligned with YMCA goals.
- Partner with senior leaders to forecast workforce demands and support both year-round and seasonal hiring cycles.
- Build strong pipelines for high-volume roles such as youth programs, aquatics, facilities, and professional/leadership roles.
- Strengthen employer brand through local storytelling, community partnerships, and digital presence.
Recruitment Operations - Oversee full-cycle recruiting, ensuring candidates experience high-quality, mission-aligned interactions.
- Optimize UKG workflows, dashboards, and reporting; deliver hiring manager training.
- Implement structured interviewing, equitable hiring practices, and consistent assessment criteria.
- Expand sourcing strategies through community-based organizations, universities, and workforce programs.
Team Leadership - Lead, coach, and support a team of recruiters while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Set clear goals, KPIs, and accountability standards for the Talent Acquisition team.
Analytics, Metrics & Reporting - Track and analyze KPIs including time-to-fill, first 90-day retention, hiring manager satisfaction, candidate experience, and recruiter productivity.
- Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership to guide decision-making.
Compliance & Process Improvement - Ensure recruitment practices comply with all employment laws, YMCA policies, and equity standards.
- Continuously improve workflow efficiency and candidate experience using data and feedback.
- Manage vendor relationships and recruitment advertising budgets as assigned
Work Environment & Physical Demands - This position operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- The role may involve occasional travel for recruitment events, conferences, or organizational meetings.

Salary Description The salary range for the
Director of Talent Acquisition position is
$90,004 - $127,065 based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and budget requirements.
Qualifications Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Experience leading and developing recruiting teams.
Skills & Competencies - Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate organizational needs into actionable hiring strategies.
- Leadership: Strong people manager skilled in building high-performing teams.
- Diversity Recruitment Expertise: Demonstrated commitment to equitable hiring.
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with ATS/HRIS systems (UKG preferred).
- Operational Excellence: Skilled in process improvement and structured interviewing.
- Communication: Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Proven success in developing and implementing recruitment strategies in mission-driven or non-profit organizations.
