Job Description and Duties

The Education Administrator I manages the Focused Monitoring and Technical Assistance III (FMTA III) Unit. Responsibilities include providing leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of professional consultant, analytical, and support staff for the educational program responsibilities assigned to the unit. Administrative and programmatic leadership functions include: (1) monitoring non-compliance; (2) designing and facilitating student outcomes system; and (3) providing technical assistance to assigned counties and/or local educational agencies.

These duties include:

Plan, organize, direct, supervise, and evaluate the activities of the FMTA III Unit.

Supervise consultants, analysts, and clerical staff. Assign and monitor work projects, evaluate products and personnel, and provide information and training necessary for staff to accomplish objectives.

Direct staff in the areas of materials development, technical assistance, training and information dissemination.

Serve as a member of the Special Education Division Leadership Team by assisting the Director in the coordination of the overall goals of the Division.

Represent the Department and the Division on various commissions, advisory boards, committees and work groups. Liaison between the Division and certain organizations, attend meetings to assist or advise school personnel, and professional organizations.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
