What you will be doing:
- Conduct advanced takeoffs and input data using estimating software.
- Review all bid documents to fully understand the project's scope.
- Prepare and present estimate documentation, identifying any gaps in the available information.
- Analyze and interpret plans, proposals, and other documents to develop accurate bids.
- Track and evaluate data to minimize discrepancies between estimates and actual costs.
- Review completed estimates and proposals for accuracy, thoroughness, value engineering alternatives, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Participate in job turnover meetings and ensure the preparation of necessary materials. Attend job closing meetings as well.
- Collaborate with an estimating team on larger projects.
- Review material pricing provided by purchasing and suppliers, and update the estimating database and procedures as needed.
- Gather and maintain current market data to accurately estimate construction, material, and associated soft costs.
- Continuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards and probabilities.
Required:
- Extensive knowledge of standard electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects.
- Strong expertise in the electrical construction bidding process and proficiency with on-screen takeoff platforms.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail, with the capability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
- 3+ years experience with electrical systems and equipment.
