About Darsel Darsel is a global education technology nonprofit (501c3) focused on improving math learning outcomes and enhancing cognitive development for primary and secondary school students in low- and middle-income countries. We build accessible AI-powered learning tools, such as WhatsApp chatbots, that help students learn math and provide support to teachers. We partner closely with governments and school systems to scale our solutions and reach the worlds most vulnerable learners. Darsel has helped 200,000+ students learn math since launching from Harvard and Stanford in 2021, largely as a result of government partnerships in Jordan, India, and Nigeria. Were on track to meaningfully impact millions of students in the coming years . Darsel is serious about impact, evidence, and scale. Our first randomized control trial (RCT) positioned Darsel as one of the most cost-effective education interventions (16-20 LAYS per $100). We are currently running a second RCT and preparing to launch a third. Weve been backed by some of the worlds top accelerators and funders, including Y Combinator, Fast Forward, LSE 100x, Mulago Foundation, and the WISE Prize for Education . ? Darsel is a global, remote-first organization. We value independence and flexibility, and mostly work asynchronously. The Role Darsel is looking for a Fundraising Director to strategically lead our fundraising strategy and build and deepen partnerships with foundations and individual donors. The position offers the unique opportunity to shape all aspects of the organization's fundraising efforts and guide Darsel to the next level of growth and impact. The Fundraising Director will work closely with Darsels founder and CEO (ex-McKinsey, MIT, Harvard, Stanford) and receive support from the broader team, but will ultimately spearhead all fundraising efforts. The position combines strategic planning, relationship building, and hands-on day-to-day execution. Key responsibilities include: Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with Darsels impact and growth targets . Generating and managing a pipeline of prospective funders including individual donors, foundations and corporate partners (six-figure and above). Evaluating and prioritizing funding opportunities. Cultivating and strengthening relationships with existing and prospective funders. Leading the creation of high-quality fundraising and communication materials . Leading grant applications from proposal development to reporting and compliance. Leading donor engagement efforts, including preparing updates and reports that effectively communicate Darsels impact. Establishing and refining systems and processes to facilitate all aspects of fundraising. About You Mission-driven and deeply motivated by Darsel's mission to improve learning outcomes for millions of students in low- and middle-income countries. Experienced fundraiser with5+ years of relevant experience, ideally including proven success fundraising for global education nonprofits. Strong existing network among relevant philanthropists and foundations, both in the US and globally. Highly driven and proactive , with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal guidance. Strategically organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage projects and balance competing priorities independently. ? Clear and persuasive communicator with an ability to concisely articulate ideas for various stakeholders - whether in writing, presentations, or conversations.
