Job Description Vanderbilt University is seeking an experienced Housing and Relocation Specialist to work with new faculty, staff, post-docs and graduate and professional students to assist with their housing needs when relocating to the Middle Tennessee area. This individual will coordinate housing resources, oversee vendor relationships, provide referrals, and prioritize university housing initiatives in partnership with the Division of Administration and other senior leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Consult with new hires, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate/professional students to understand their unique housing requirements and preferences
- Conduct thorough research on rental properties, real estate, communities, and local schools in the Middle Tennessee region
- Provide personalized recommendations and support throughout the housing search and relocation process
- Coordinate logistics such as property tours, lease negotiations, and moving arrangements
- Maintain strong relationships with local real estate agents, property managers, and community resources
- Serve as a knowledgeable guide and advocate for new hires, postdoctoral fellow, and graduate/professional students navigating the relocation experience
- Establish preferred vendors with local rentals and negotiate favorable pricing
- Create a central and consolidated website outlining VU programs and resources related to housing, such as housing opportunities, Abenity perks related to housing and moving, mobility services, and more
- Oversee a program to provide temporary, short-term financial assistance for graduate/ professional students and post-doctoral fellows struggling with unanticipated or emergency housing needs Establish a strategic partnership with community agencies with expertise in affordable housing
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as real estate, urban planning, business or social work. Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience and Skills: Minimum 5 years of experience in relocation, property management, or a related role - Experience with strategic planning and vendor relationships preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to coordinate complex relocation needs Customer-focused mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- The ideal candidate will need to have a valid driver's license and the ability to work a hybrid schedule; there are mandatory days that you will be in the office every week. Currently, that is 3 days a week but this can increase depending on business needs.
