The HSSE Specialist is responsible for implementing and managing client environmental health and safety programs on third shift. The goal of this role is to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all relevant regulations and client safety culture and all employees are safe. Responsibilities include identifying and evaluating operational environment, health & safety (EHS) risks; conducting assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with the regional strategy; executing EHS training needs based on identified operational risks and ensuring workforce training activities meet business and legislative requirements; ensuring implementation and conformance of ClientEHS requirements; monitoring and advising on client EHS requirements and applicable EHS references of the Scope of Work (SOW), ensuring regulatory requirements are implemented and followed onsite; working with and advising contractors in identification and implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies or issues; attending and participating in essential meetings such as All Hands, Stand Downs, Orientations, Safety Committees, EHS Leads, Activity Briefings, Coordination Meetings; creating, validating, and communicating lessons learned via Significant Events (SE) and Significant Potential Events (SPE) with ClientEHS team(s) and trade partners; investigating and analyzing incident reports involving work‐related injuries and illnesses, and recommending measures to prevent recurrence; conducting investigation and immediately reporting all incidents, near misses and occupational illness, and recommending means of preventing recurrence; performing floor walks and observing work activities; documenting observations and providing coaching/feedback to personnel to ensure proper safe work behaviors and practices. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational safety and health, or a related field, or experience commensurate with the role; 3+ years of experience in environmental health and safety; occupational health and safety certifications ASP, CSP, or other related BCSP certifications or OSHA certifications preferred; strong understanding of environmental health and safety regulations; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
