JOB SUMMARY: This position is a full-time, non-tenure track position in Chemistry in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences. The instructor will teach undergraduate-level courses related to Chemistry as needed by the Department, especially those in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The instructor will also assist with departmental activities and initiatives.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teach undergraduate level Chemistry and related courses in a variety of instructional modalities.
- Provide quality instruction to undergraduate courses as assigned by the department chair every semester and maintain office hours (a minimum of 10 hours per week) and attendance records.
- Create, prepare, and supervise undergraduate laboratories and lab activities.
- Facilitate effective student learning using a variety of teaching methods.
- Use D2L and other related learning platforms to deliver relevant course materials and information to students.
- Develop course objectives, assignments, and means of evaluating student performance for the course.
- Provide prompt feedback on student assignments.
- Meet students and respond to student questions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry (or a closely related field) or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours earned in Chemistry.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communicative skills and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience teaching Chemistry lectures and laboratories at the undergraduate level
- Ability to create learning environments in which students can learn and thrive
