Job Summary

The Designer plays a central role within AVENTIS Homes’ full design–build process. This position guides clients from early conceptual vision through comprehensive selections and final documentation, ensuring every home reflects AVENTIS’ commitment to custom luxury and our uncompromising process .

The Designer collaborates closely with clients, architects, engineers, and construction teams to produce cohesive, buildable, and elevated designs that integrate seamlessly with our coastal, concrete-shell construction standards. This role ensures the client experience remains structured, enjoyable, and aligned with our brand promise: Elevated by Design, Built to Endure.

Duties/Responsibilities

Client Experience & Collaboration
  • Lead client design meetings at the AVENTIS Design Center, showrooms, and jobsites.
  • Guide clients through selections with clarity, expertise, and AVENTIS design standards.
  • Translate client vision into curated, functional, and fully buildable designs.
  • Present design boards and cohesive finish packages that support confident decision-making.
Design Development & Documentation
  • Produce accurate AutoCAD drawings, including cabinetry layouts, millwork details, tile layouts, plumbing layouts, and interior elevations.
  • Participate in conceptual design, schematic design, and elevation development for custom and semi-custom homes.
  • Assist with architectural redlines to ensure design intent, constructability, and accuracy across all disciplines.
  • Develop and detail unique design features that highlight AVENTIS craftsmanship, including specialty walls, millwork features, and custom-built elements.
Integration with the Design-Build Process
  • Upload and manage design selections, drawings, and documentation within Buildertrend or other construction management platforms.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Construction Field Managers, and Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with design intent.
  • Review field conditions and collaborate with construction teams to solve design or fitment challenges.
  • Ensure all design decisions align with permitting timelines, build schedules, and engineering requirements.
Organization, Tracking & Schedule Management
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all selections, drawings, samples, and approvals.
  • Manage multiple client design schedules simultaneously, supporting smooth transitions from design to permitting to build.
  • Provide regular updates on design progress and outstanding decisions that may impact the critical path.
Communication & Professionalism
  • Clearly articulate ideas, recommendations, and constraints to clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain a calm, organized, and client-centered approach throughout the design journey.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the AVENTIS brand and design philosophy.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to create fully detailed, accurate construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite or Bluebeam.
  • Strong understanding of residential interior design principles, materials, and space planning.
  • Experience working within a design-build workflow, coordinating with field teams and engineering as needed.
  • Able to manage multiple active projects and simultaneous selection schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative with a technical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable walking active construction sites and collaborating with field teams.
  • Availability to work from the AVENTIS office Monday–Friday (Design Center meetings require in-person presence).
Education & Experience
  • Degree in Interior Design or related field required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in residential design, preferably with a luxury or custom builder.
  • Experience producing design documentation for construction.
  • Experience in a design-build environment strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and navigate active jobsites.
  • Ability to lift and handle sample boards and design materials (up to 25 lbs).
  • Prolonged periods working on a computer for drawing and documentation.
