Swoon partners with a global leader in heavy equipment manufacturing to find a skilled Mainframe COBOL Developer for their Peoria, IL facility. This one-year contract position, with potential for extension or conversion, offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical development strategy projects, enhance existing programs, and ensure compliance with FSA/SOX controls. Here are the details:

Location: Preference for Peoria, IL – open to remote for strong candidates that are willing to go into the office 1-2 times per year for team meetings

Duration: Initial one-year contract with high potential to extend/convert based on performance

Pay Rate: $40-45/hr W2, open to C2C, Self-Corporation candidates as well*

Position’s Contributions to Work Group :

• Helping on development strategy projects.

Typical task breakdown:

• Research existing mainframe programs and documenting/flow charting findings
• Enhancing existing programs
• Writing custom one-time-only use programs to perform data modifications
• Documenting change evidence for FSA/SOX compliance

Education & Experience Required:

• Programming certificate degree - at least undergrad / community college 2 yr., preferably/desired 4 year Comp Sci degree
• No degree, they will need to have at least 8-10 of actual hands on experience in this role.
• Masters degree, they will at least 4+ years of experience

Technical Skills:

(Required)

• 2+ years experience with mainframe environment, preferably GIS Cluster C/A - COBOL development
• 3+ years -SQL / DB2 programming mainframe
• 3+ years -IMS or CICS development
• 2+ years (IMS preferred)
• 2+ years with debugging tools like Xpeditor, Abend-Aid –
• 2+ experience working with end-customers on IT requirements / testing

(Desired)

• Experience in working with FSA/SOX Controls

Soft Skills:

(Required)

• Good communicator / clear English skills

Interview Process:

• 1st round: Team/technical interview, will last about 1 hour
• 2nd round: Interview with hiring manager, will last about 1 hour
