Job Description
*Description*
We are seeking a highly analytical and relationship-driven *Medical Billing Specialist* with a focus on *denials management*. This is not your typical denials role - we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, Excel-heavy environment and can think critically to resolve complex billing issues.
Unlike traditional billing workflows, *we not bill on CPT codes*. Instead, we operate on a *flat-rate per use model*, which means most of your work will be done in *Google Sheets/Excel*, not in an EMR.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Investigate denied claims by accessing payer portals (e.g., Athena, direct payer sites).
* Identify the root cause of denials (e.g., copays, deductibles, incorrect services or codes).
* Categorize unpaid amounts into appropriate denial buckets.
* Collaborate with internal *Revenue Cycle Specialists* to resolve issues and ensure accurate resubmission.
* Resubmit corrected claims to payers and follow up as needed.
* Maintain detailed documentation and tracking in Excel/Google Sheets.
* Communicate regularly and professionally with payer contacts to build strong working relationships.
*Qualifications*
*Experience*:
* Minimum *6 months* in denials management from a *provider environment*
* *3 years* experience preferred ($25/hr).
*Technical Skills*:
* *Mac proficiency* required (not PC).
* Comfortable using *dual monitors*.
* Strong in *Excel/Google Sheets*:
* Must know *formulas, sorting, filtering*.
* *VLOOKUP and pivot tables* preferred
*Denials Expertise*:
* Skilled in using *payer portals* to pull denial reports and resubmit claims.
* Able to *diagnose denial reasons* (e.g., copays, deductibles, coding errors).
* Conduct *internal research* to resolve issues and resubmit claims.
*Soft Skills*:
* Strong *relationship-building* abilities, especially with *payer contacts*.
* High-level *critical thinking and analytical skills*.

*Pay and Benefits*
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
