As a MRI Technologist at UPMC you play a critical role in ensuring accurate and safe imaging procedures for our patients. Your expertise and attention to detail contribute to exceptional patient care and efficient department operations.
\n
Key Responsibilities:
\n
\n - Clinical Competency:
\n
\n - Maintain proficiency in operating MRI equipment and stay updated on technological advancements.
\n - Perform high-quality MRI scans with precision and attention to patient safety.
\n
\n
- Patient Identification and Universal Protocol:
\n \n - Properly identify patients using two identifiers.
\n - Follow universal protocol guidelines during procedures to prevent errors.
\n - Review patient history and assess physician orders to tailor protocols for optimal data acquisition.
\n - Administer contrast agents as needed and document patient history in electronic records.
\n
\n - Physician Collaboration:
\n \n - Present relevant patient information to physicians before starting exams.
\n - Follow established protocols to ensure accurate and efficient imaging.
\n
\n - Administrative Tasks:
\n \n - Code and track all exams within your responsibility using the RIS system.
\n - Update and document patient information in Rad Assessment.
\n - Network exams to ISITE for archiving and interpretation.
\n - Enter charges accurately for performed exams.
\n
\n - Safety and Compliance:
\n \n - Adhere to MR safety guidelines and protocols.
\n - Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
\n
\n - Effective Communication:
\n \n - Interact compassionately with patients and colleagues.
\n - Explain procedures clearly to alleviate patient anxiety and encourage cooperation.
\n
\n - Collaboration and Efficiency:
\n \n - Work seamlessly with other departments to expedite patient care.
\n - Contribute to a positive team culture within the department.
\n
\n - Archiving and Documentation:
\n \n - Review, process, and archive MRI images efficiently.
\n
\n
MRI Tech level: Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT program or accredited ARDMS program.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

\n - ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
\n - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
