Munson, located in Utica, NY, is looking for an enthusiastic Retail Associate to create memorable shopping experiences for visitors to our Museum Shop and Campus Store. This is a full-time, 35 hour/week position with benefits. Work hours are 9:30am to 5pm with rotating Saturday shifts; occasional extended hours may be needed for event staffing. Using knowledge of products and exhibits, provide customer service to patrons of Museum Shop and Students of the School of Art Campus Store ensuring all customers are assisted in a timely manner and respond to customer's needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Serve Munson visitors, students, and staff by providing courteous and efficient Museum Shop and Campus Store sales service. Accurately and efficiently learn and utilize the department POS system for selling products and tracking stock and maintain an accurate inventory database. Accurate accounting of all monies and transactions. Respond promptly and with exceptional customer service to phone calls, emails, and visitor/student questions Maintenance of cash registers, cash control, and daily register checkouts. Learn and execute with detailed accuracy department money handling policies. Tag and display merchandise and conduct inventory control. Keep the retail spaces clean, neat, attractive, and in compliance with all regulations. ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICE: Will serve on intra-departmental committees as required and complete other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

High school diploma and a minimum of two years of retail or related experience. Knowledge of computerized point of sale or ticketing systems; ability to perform math functions; excellent customer service skills. An understanding of merchandising and visual display preferred.

COMPUTER MACHINE & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:

Advanced personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform advanced word processing, bookkeeping, and/or data entry. Knowledge/use of computer, printer, photocopier, phone system, fax machine, and scanner. Requires experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and various software programs.
