WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Principal Scientist/Associate Director to join our multidisciplinary drug discovery team in developing small molecule therapeutics to treat unmet medical needs. The ideal candidate has medicinal chemistry experience, thrives on rigorous experimentation, and has the ability to bring a team together. The candidate will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity for career development.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR - Independently drive medicinal chemistry projects
- Design of drug molecules to advance hit-to-lead and lead optimization programs
- Development and execution of efficient synthetic routes for target molecules using state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies
- Participation and impact in shaping project strategies
- Building a strong network across the multifunctional research team and integrate data across proteomics, biology, and other domains, to inform medicinal chemistry strategies
- Presentation of results at company meetings
- Understanding data is critical - stay on top of the latest results, brainstorm with the team about their implications, and help craft new ideas in response

- Strong leadership skills and a track record of success in all aspects of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery: hit identification, hit to lead and lead optimization
- PHD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or related field, and at least 6+ years or MS and 12+ years or BS and 14+ years of industry experience
- Demonstrated track record of contributions to the field of synthetic organic chemistry (publications, patents etc.)
- Experience managing external chemists and collaborations to deliver on aggressive timelines is a plus
- An ability to multi-task and deliver results with a high degree of attention to detail (organized and self-motivated)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pay Scale Range (CA)
$165,000-$191,000 USD
At Belharra Therapeutics, Inc. pay ranges are subject to change and are assigned to a job based on its level within the company. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
