Position Summary:

Piton is seeking a motivated, collaborative, and experienced research assistant with extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, microbiology, enzyme assays, and cell culture handling. Working under direct supervision of the Principal Scientist, the Research Associate will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of the drug candidate development at Piton. Candidates are expected to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment with a diverse team.

Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures.
• Maintains and propagates established mammalian cell lines.
• Maintains the bacterial culture collection and conducts in-vitro co-culture experiments.
• Prepares and maintains stocks of necessary reagents, solutions, and supplies.
• Cultivates aerobic and anaerobic bacteria from human tissues, creates bacterial stocks, and revives bacteria as needed.
• Performs ELISAs.
• Cell-based assay development.
• Performs data analysis and presents it to small and large teams.
• Attends team meetings to share results and contribute to experimental planning.
• Have excellent personal task management skills and a high level of self-motivation.

Requirements:

• B.S with 3-5 years or M.S. with 1-2 years of industry experience in basic laboratory techniques.
• Experience with handling bacteria and mammalian cell lines.
• Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and project management skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed, innovative, and creative thinker.
