Job Description

Position Overview: The School Licensed Nurse (LPN/LVN) is responsible for providing direct school nursing services in an effort to promote prevention, medical management and academics. Must be fingerprinted to work in a school or willing to do so upon hire. Pay and benefits: Starting at $39 an hour for LPN, $45 an hour for RN In-house trainings provided by Aveanna Clinicians: Trach/Vent, Adult to Peds, etc. Full-time, Part-time, Per Diem work available Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Sick Leave, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Stock Purchase Program Professional development and growth opportunities available Essential Job Functions: • Maintain standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse • Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence • Maintain and follow physician order for any invasive procedure and/or skill. Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent • Attend Health Plan meetings and school conferences when applicable; assisting with the plan of care under the direction of a physician, registered nurse, school designee and/or parent • Attend appropriate continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student’s rights and overall wellbeing • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and wellbeing of students in the school health setting • Report any changes in the student’s mental, physical, or environmental condition (including any incidents) to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee and parent as applicable • Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse or neglect • Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment. Maintain a neat and orderly workspace • Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications • Provide individual teaching and training with student and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable • Collaborate, coordinate and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs • Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered • Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports and timesheets according to company guidelines Requirements: • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing • Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice • Current CPR certification • Current Basic Life Support certification • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures Additional state specific requirements: • Continuing Education as required by state Other Skills/Abilities: • Attention to detail • Time Management • Leadership skills • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution • Good organization and communication skills Physical Requirements: • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English • Must be able to travel • Must be able to lift 50 pounds • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting • Must be able to sit and climb stairs • Must have visual and hearing acuity • Must have strong sense of smell and touch • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport Environment: • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases Other Duties: • Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
