Job Description

Senior Pastor - Highline Christian Church

Highline Christian Church is a non-denominational, elder-led congregation modeled on the churches of the Restoration Movement. The Senior Pastor’s overall responsibility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to lead the members and attenders to a closer and deeper relationship with God. This is done by helping all to love God and others in the members everyday lives through discipleship and accountability. It is also done through ensuring solid Bible-based teaching and preaching that has application to all levels of spiritual maturity. The Senior Pastor should lead the church by demonstrating the love of God through the Senior Pastor's own servant leadership and shepherd care for the members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Continually pursue a deeper relationship with Christ and actively deepen knowledge of God; maintain a purposeful walk with God to be able to preach, teach, counsel, and love the congregation with a humble servant’s heart.
  • Preach a Christ-centered, Bible based message each week at all three worship services.
  • Meet with the Elders regularly and contribute to leadership decisions. Manage assigned portions of annual budget expenditures.
  • Attend staff meetings and assist in the supervision and mentoring of staff.
  • Work with the worship team to coordinate worship music, “ministry moments” and the rest of the weekly services.
  • Meet with members as needed for marriages, funerals, baptism, hospital calls and limited counseling.

Sought After Characteristics

  • Ordained Minister.
  • Profess and exhibit a lifestyle consistent with Highline’s Statement of Belief.
  • Has spent several years as a Senior Pastor or Associate Pastor with significant preaching and administrative duties.
  • Ability to relate to members of a diverse church body.
  • Able to speak hard truths in love to address conflicts within the church. Seeks to do this by trying to shape a more Christ-like, grace-filled perspective on church life in those involved.
  • Demonstrates a humble, shepherd spirit.
  • Conform to the qualifications found in Titus 1:5-9, 1 Tim. 3:1-17, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
  • Does not espouse a progressive view of Bible interpretation.

Salary and Benefits

  • Anticipated salary range: $75,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.
  • Health care benefits.
  • Vacation time commensurate with years of prior work in full-time ministry.
