Job Description

A professional Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available for the current school year at a high school located in Bethlehem, PA. This contract position offers a schedule of 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, totaling 32.5 hours weekly, with immediate start through the end of the school year.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers using sign language interpretation.
• Support classroom instruction and extracurricular activities to ensure full student participation.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to accommodate students individual communication needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Adhere to the policies and requirements of the educational institution.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3.5 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) or RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification is required.
• Must have or be able to obtain the following clearances and documentation (contractors with clearances already in hand will be prioritized):
  • ACT 168 Form (valid for 5 years)
  • ACT 126 Form (Mandated Reporter, valid for 5 years)
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance (valid for 5 years)
  • PA Fingerprints (ACT 114, results to be submitted, valid for 5 years)
  • TB test documentation
  • PATCH background check (requires payment, valid for 1 year)
  • Arrest and Conviction Report (valid for 5 years)
