Job Description

The role of Communications is to develop and define the messaging and communications strategy that increases awareness and affinity for the Red Bull brand and its events, athletes, and media projects. The department oversees all external communication and works with external media partners / agencies and cross-functional Brand, Athlete and Sports Marketing teams to share and amplify the key messages of our brand.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Sports Communications, the Sr. Comms Manager, Motorsports owns the development and distribution of strategic national PR campaigns and content in the areas of Motorsports and Aviation.  The underlying objective of this role is to maximize credible and authentic third-party coverage that influences and engages priority audiences to build brand awareness and brand love with new and existing consumers.

  • Build awareness of Motorsports and Aviation projects, events and athletes; tailor campaigns to target and engage priority audiences where they consume news/content, including endemic and trade; generate excitement for Motorsports and Aviation properties with relevant editorial partners.

    Translate the larger Communications vision, goals, and core strategies for Sports to create the most efficient tactics that drive media coverage to reach new young, diverse consumers and creators in your playgrounds.

    In partnership with SaMo Sports Marketing leadership, lead the development of communications strategy and plans for Motorsports and Aviation-focused Media House projects

    Identify and develop new story angles for existing projects, playgrounds, and recurring content opportunities relating to Motorsports and Aviation. Create ownable content formats and IP across all disciplines that deliver reach and engagement that make people talk about Red Bull favorably.

    Partner and manage external contractors/agencies when necessary to create plans that amplify our brand campaigns & assets, positioning of products and services, news & announcements, etc.

    Ensure clear and smooth communication with key cross-functional stakeholders including but not limited to the Global Motorsports and Aviation team, key teams/series/partners, and the Sports Marketing organization in the U.S.

    Evaluate the potential media impact of new athletes and event concepts as a counterpart to Sports Marketing

    Be constantly aware of emerging trends, products, and technologies, and identify opportunities to apply new technologies, products and services to campaigns

    Serve as the main point of contact for the local markets for all athlete and media-related matters, aligning and collaborating on a constant basis to uplevel the media and content competency around Motorsports and Aviation in the regions.

    Deliver beyond the ordinary quality and experiences only Red Bull can do. Inspire, surprise, entertain, and make our consumers talk about our brand and product.

  • Represent Red Bull’s voice and brand values with the consumer. Oversee accurate and consistent messaging of the Red Bull brand in all Motorsports and Aviation marketing & communications.

    Devise 'breakthrough' buzzworthy PR national moments and campaigns to elevate the company's message, bringing new perspectives and vision that tap into the company's disruptive roots

    Develop, maintain, and nurture media and creator relationships

    Proactively and reactively pitch media outlets for coverage on Red Bull across relevant corporate, consumer, lifestyle, and social media

    Identify and oversee necessary tools such as photography, content creation, media kits, etc. needed for optimal storytelling and media pitching

    Develop and share best practices with the core team and key stakeholders

    Work effectively under pressure and utilize strong project management skills to meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years’ experience in leading communications for high-profile brands and/or Motorsports/Aviation focused agency account management. 
  • Understanding – both consumer and trends - of the diverse U.S. media and creator landscape 
  • Track record of delivering results against tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal and presentations.
  • Strong planning, prioritization and project management competencies.
  • Creative thinker and innovator; in touch with digital, Sports, trends, etc.
  • Able to travel as needed; work flexible hours/days of week and weekends.
  • Travel 20-30%
