About the Role
We’re looking for a dependable and detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience preparing tax returns to join our growing team in Lake Forest. This is a year-round, temp-to-hire opportunity offering long-term stability, training, and growth potential. You may come from a background in tax prep, accounting support, or administrative assistance — as long as you’ve prepared tax returns and understand the basics, we’re willing to train and support your continued development. Key Responsibilities Prepare individual and small business tax returns (Federal and State) Assist with organizing, reviewing, and verifying tax documents Identify eligible deductions, credits, and compliance issues E-file tax returns and track status for follow-up Communicate professionally with clients regarding their tax situations Support CPA and senior staff with document management and admin tasks Maintain client files and ensure confidentiality Assist in improving internal systems and workflows Willingness to learn, grow, and potentially mentor others over time What We’re Looking For Minimum 3 years of experience preparing tax returns (1040, 1120, or 1065) Comfortable working in an administrative, assistant, or support capacity Familiarity with tax software (Drake preferred, but others welcome) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Clear communication skills and a client-friendly attitude Active PTIN and CTEC registration (or willingness to obtain) Willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative environment Preferred (Not Required) Bilingual (English/Spanish) Experience with tax resolution or prior-year filings Interest in growing into a supervisory or lead preparer role What We Offer Competitive pay with room to grow Bonus potential during peak seasons Year-round, stable employment On-the-job training and mentorship Supportive, small team environment Growth potential into leadership or review roles If you're organized, client-focused, and have real experience preparing taxes — even if your title wasn’t "Tax Preparer" — we want to hear from you.
