Talent4Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Oncology for a travel nursing job in Jackson, Mississippi.

🏥 Unit Overview: 5 South – Hematology/Oncology

Location: UMMC
Beds: 32
Patient Population: Hematology/Oncology, chemo patients
Charting System: EPIC (Proficiency Required)
Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Center

📋 Requirements
  • 50-Mile Radius Rule: Applies to all travelers.
  • Fingerprinting:
    • Remote: Allow 10 days for processing.
    • In-Person: Can be done at Jackson or Grenada campus the week before start.
  • Flu Vaccine:
    • Required by UMMC – deadline November 15.
    • Only medical exemptions accepted with documented proof of a severe prior reaction.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS – required for all RNs.
    • ACLS – required for charge RNs.
  • EPIC Charting: Required proficiency.
💉 Unit Details
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 (may be up to 1:6 depending on acuity).
    • Ratios adjusted down for higher-acuity patients.
  • Charge Nurse:
    • Takes a light assignment ; may take full load if needed.
    • Manager: On-site M–F during business hours.
    • House Supervisor: Evenings and weekends.
    • Each unit has a dedicated educator and manager (smaller units may share).
  • Support Staff: Nurse aides on all units.
⚗️ Clinical Skills & Patient Care
  • Must-Have Experience:
    • Level 1 trauma experience.
    • Large facility background with surgical/high-acuity patients.
    • Comfort with lines, chest tubes, and oncology populations.
    • Chemo experience preferred (ONC cert not required ).
    • Manager will train clinicians on chemo administration — great learning opportunity.
  • Titration:
    • Heparin drips commonly titrated.
    • May start amiodarone before transferring to cardiac unit.
  • Telemetry:
    • All units have tele capability.
    • Central monitor station communicates with RNs.
    • 3 South has central monitors at nurses’ station; every patient on tele.
  • RT Equipment:
    • CPAP/BiPAP (mainly at night, with RT support).
    • High Flow available on 2 North.
Scheduling & Logistics
  • Shift Length: 12 hours (7a–7p / 7p–7a).
  • Scheduling:
    • Travelers fill staffing gaps but block scheduling considered if possible.
    • Weekenders welcome (optional every weekend).
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 per month (may vary with need).
  • Holiday Rotation: Same as core staff.
  • Call/Standby: None.
  • Floating: Within skillset; float to other med-surg units as needed.
    • Higher-acuity patients assigned to core staff.

  • Scrubs: Any solid color , must appear professional .
  • Scrubs Provided: Not specified (bring your own).
