Wevise is on a mission to level the playing field in tech. Through direct programming and partnerships with nonprofits supporting underserved and disadvantaged people to enter and advance in the technology industry, we provide access to mentors, training and educational opportunities, and careers.
Our goals
- Support underserved and disadvantaged people to enter and thrive in the technology industry
- Partner with organizations who need mentorship and career placement programs to complement their main programming, helping them to better serve their beneficiaries
- Support companies in finding the right, often diverse, candidates
We have two programs a free, on-demand mentorship platform that allows people to request mentorship based on specific needs, interests, background, and experience. Mentors and mentees can specify their interest in short, medium, and long-term mentorship. Mentors choose one or more mentees that resonate with them from a curated list of five mentorship requests. Although the platform is open and free to all, we are focused on supporting underserved and disadvantaged people. Mentors and mentees are matched with people who have overcome similar barriers.
Our second program is called the TechPath Alliance, which is a city-focused program currently being piloted in Chicago, IL. The initiative brings together nonprofits and for-profits to collaboratively run a 6 month mentoring and career development program for underserved emerging tech professionals.

The Role We are seeking an experienced Recruiter who will play a crucial role in sourcing, engaging, and onboarding volunteers who are aligned with Wevises mission and values. This position requires a passionate, organized, and dynamic individual who can work independently and as part of a team. The Volunteer Recruiter will develop and execute strategies to attract a diverse pool of volunteers, ensuring that our volunteer needs are met while fostering an inclusive and supportive volunteer culture. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative strategies to attract volunteers across multiple channels (social media, job boards, community groups, partnerships, etc.).
- Actively source and recruit volunteers by reaching out to potential candidates, screening resumes/applications, and conducting interviews.
- Build and maintain relationships with volunteer networks, educational institutions, local organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Promote Wevises mission and volunteer opportunities to diverse audiences through various communication channels.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in Recruiting / Sourcing / Outreach or a related field, preferably within the tech and non-profit sectors.
- Strong understanding of volunteer dynamics and best practices for recruitment and engagement.
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship management abilities.
- Initiative-driven, with the ability to manage projects independently.
- A genuine passion for driving diversity, equity, and inclusion in technology.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 5-10 hours per week on a volunteer basis.
