The Security Lieutenant directly assists with the coordinating and managing of security service functions. The lieutenant ensures that officer and sergeant actions are consistent with established policies and procedures, as well as the expectations of Security Services management. He or she is also responsible for ensuring, in a timely manner, that management is made aware of significant issues. Performs all tasks assigned by Security Services administration. An Albany Medical Center Security Lieutenant is responsible for maintaining the peace in the hospital and working closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement to ensure the safety of the Albany Medical Center community.

Minimum Requirements

- A high school diploma or equivalent

-Associates degree in a related field preferred

- New York State Security Guard License

- A valid New York State driver’s license

- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Ability to interact with diverse clientele, work under

pressure, and make quick decisions in emergency situations

- Empathy and good judgment

Experience:

Min. 5-year experience as Security Officer or Law Enforcement Officer required

Min. 2-year supervisory experience required

Security leadership experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required

-Exercise initiative, take responsibility and handle difficult situations

-Ability to carry a great deal of responsibility in handling difficult situations alone

-Must possess good judgement, emotional control, objectivity, and sound decision-making skills

-Ability to coordinate efforts with all hospital/college constituencies and provide leadership that assures an efficient security function

-Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position without or with reasonable accommodation.
